Joe D'Aloia

After nine months of collaboration on bike design and construction, Santos and UniSA attempted to ride their way into the Guinness Book of Records on the world’s longest bike.

The bike, measuring 41.9m and seating 20 cyclists, made its TDU debut and our very own Joe D’Aloia, in the presence of two independent witnesses, was there to officially measure the distance travelled and the bicycle length.

The bike, weighing 2.5 tonnes without riders, took 3 weeks to construct and was manufactured using technical drawings designed by UniSA students and staff.

Joe’s official stats were: length of bike 41.42m; distance travelled 116m.

The official documentation has been submitted to the Guinness Book of Records awaiting verification.
