Fyfe utilise the latest terrestrial 3D laser scanning technology to provide faster and more comprehensive data capture than traditional survey methods.  Enabling non-contact measurement from a distance, laser scanning offers a safe and cost effective solution for capturing complex geometries in challenging environments including mine sites, road traffic and hazardous areas.

High Definition Survey (HDS) or 3D scanning is a process of graphically capturing as-built physical elements of an object, or area and applying surveyed position information to each visible point, resulting in a “point cloud” of scan data.  These point clouds can be coloured with real world colours from digital panoramic photography and viewed interactively in 3D.  Alternatively point clouds allow creation of accurate 3D CAD models of objects that have been scanned, enabling further analysis and design options.

From the initial site survey, through 3D concept modelling, engineering, detail design drafting and as constructed survey; laser scanning and 3D capture technologies offer new options for project accuracy, documentation and schedule reduction.
